Night Tree

Night Tree

Deep in the darkness, there are secrets all around us.

A family drives past the bright Christmas lights of their town to where the dark and quiet begins. Walking under a moonlit sky into the forest, they search for their favorite tree. It is waiting for them, standing like an old friend. Arms spread in greeting. Under the watchful eye of an owl, the family decorates their special tree with popcorn, apples, tangerines, and sunflower-seed balls. All gifts for the animals of the woods.
Night Tree program tidbits:

Night Tree
  • I will read Night Tree, Eve Bunting’s tale of one family’s unique Christmas Eve tradition beautifully illustrated by Ted Rand.
  • The children and I will dance, conjuring up a snowstorm with wintry scarves in hand.
  • We’ll sing that perennial winter favorite, Let It Snow!
  • Everybody will share stories about wild animals and their search for food in the winter months.
  • We’ll make treat wreaths the children can take home to hang in their own yards for the birds.
